06th – 07th of April 2020
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Colleagues,
After a one year break, the German Week will take place again this spring, more precisely in Pune.
The German Section of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), in cooperation with the DAAD and the Goethe Society of India (GSI), will organise the German Week from 6th to 9th of April 2020. It will take place at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune), Pune.
The overall topic of this year’s German Week is “The Enlightenment in today’s world: concepts and critique” / “Die Aufklärung in der heutigen Welt: Konzepte und Kritik.”
The German Week consists of two parts: the traditional DAAD-junior researcher colloquium (DAAD Nachwuchssymposium) and a Goethe Society of India conference. This time, however, the Goethe Society of India conference will be replaced by a Summer School on the topic of “Concepts of the Enlightenment in the European and Indian contexts”. The languages of communication for the Summer School will be German and English.
MPhil students, PhD students and junior researchers of German Studies are invited to take part in the junior researcher colloquium. You can find more information in the attached Call for Papers.
For the Summer School, applications from researchers from other related disciplines are equally invited.
If you wish to participate in both events (colloquium and the Summer School), please mention this specifically in your application. This is extremely important in order to book the rooms for the required duration.
The German Week is a wonderful opportunity for young German studies scholars from India to present their own scientific work to an expert audience and to get into contact with other scholars. In order to be invited for the Symposium, the following requirements must be fulfilled: a short CV and the abstract of the research project should be submitted in the prescribed format till 3rd of March to Devi Arand: Germanweekpune2020@gmail.com. Click here for downloading the application form. Additionally, applicants should submit a scanned letter or an email (by their MPhil/ PhD guide) stating: the name of applicant, institution and name of MPhil/ PhD guide).
I equally request you to inform in your courses, but also your colleagues and acquaintances from German Studies, as well as from related disciplines (e.g. philosophy), about the German Week.
Thanking you in advance for your support
Devi Arand (DAAD IC lecturer, SPPU)
